And Now… A few Words From Jewels of the Indie Chicks.

(Jewels has something to say and I advise you all to listen, because this chick only wants to help you reach into your subconscious and yank out your inner badass. So pay attention!)

When I first started blogging I had NO clue what I was doing. Hell, I was so unsure of what I was doing that the thought of Googling an article to help me wasn’t even an option–I’d have had no clue what to even search for. Now I know better; now I know a whole lot better. I still look back in amazement at the initial blog post, it was a rambling, a post about nothing, and I figured nobody would read it. Then something magical happened, somebody did (sucker) and then another somebody and another. Suddenly I was a blogger with followers, comments, and engaged readers…and I did it all by chance.

I think we all know that I was awarded lenience that most bloggers aren’t allowed anymore. Not in the world of SEO, social media sharing, and Google Ranking. No, now if you want your blog to stand out from the crowd you have to work hard to make sure your content is seen. Luckily there are sites all over the internet that help you do just that and The Indie Chicks has always been among them…kind of. You see, as a company built on the support and contribution, and followers of bloggers we weren’t focusing on our writers, or bloggers, or our readers quite enough. Suddenly we had a light bulb moment (not an Oprah light bulb moment—we didn’t start giving out houses and cars, but it’s still pretty awesome) and Indie Chick Lit was born.

Indie Chick Lit is the webs newest playground for writers! It’s a weekly party with our Monday writing prompts but we buckle down and provide you valuable new content on a weekly basis as well. Sounds pretty great as is but we decided to take it a step further. We’re going to be the cheerleader, the go to company, and the one stop shop for all indie, self and small publishing house authors on the internet. Too few authors have the budget or time to go on actual book tours so the internet is where they make their mark and get buzz.

That’s where our badass Book Tour Hosts come into play. Our amazing community of bloggers can sign up to be a Tour Host and get free books, potential prizes, and amazing traffic boosts. Who doesn’t love free books and more unique traffic to their website, perfectly SEO’d and ready to roll? Hell, I know when I was actively blogging I loved when anyone came to me with a post idea that didn’t require insane amounts of work (I really lived for guest posts – you’re welcome Hook). What could be easier than writing a blurb about a great book?

The internet is an expansive beast where blogs and voices are too easily lost. It’s a double edged sword…this chance to be heard on a global scale but having to battle through the throngs of others hoping for the same. The Indie Chicks have always been proud to provide a larger platform for women with amazing stories to be heard and Indie Chick Lit will be no different. No longer will authors of amazing books go unnoticed or bloggers with potential be unvisited. Boost your ranking, increase page views, read free books, join in on prompts, and be an active part of a community that gets you because they share a core love of reading, writing, and being part of a community of like-minded people.

The Indie Chicks - Fearlessly Defined

I’d love to work with you at Indie Chick Lit, whether that’s reading your prompt link ups, interacting in post comments, or as a book tour host. No matter how you decide to get involved in Indie Chick Lit know that you are welcome there! Feel free to grab the Indie Chick Lit supporter badge from the post to present at your own blog…but if you’d like a specialized one for Tour Hosts you’ll have to sign up. 😉

About The Hook

Husband. Father. Bellman. Author of The Bellman Chronicles. Reader of comic books and observer and chronicler of the human condition. And to my wife's eternal dismay, a mere mortal and non-vampire. I'm often told I look like your uncle, cousin, etc. If I wore a hat, I'd hang it on a hat rack in my home in Niagara Falls, Canada. You can call me The Hook, everyone else does.

Thanks for reading and commenting, Philosopher. Hope you see you visit the site and join up for some free books.

  2. Nadia says:

Thanks a bunch, Hook and Jewels. I’m making my way there…

  3. The Hook says:

Thank you, Jewels, for reaching out to your fellow artists and helping to raise them up. We could all use an Indie Chick in our corner.

    • AccordingtoJewels says:

Thank YOU for hosting me today and helping me spread the word. We can only help and grow as many bloggers and writers as we can reach so each share and each mention helps us help others. We couldn’t do it without supporters like you, so thank you for being in my corner!

  4. As I live, I learn. Must check you out sometime soon. 🙂

  5. Nice to meet you, Jewels. Question: can chubby, lazy, borderline ugly nonfiction male navigator authors find a place at Indie Chick Lit? Especially one who has sworn a solemn and noble oath to cleanse the world of ideological feminism through a slightly-less-than-messianic two book work, thereby saving civilization in the process?

My female test readers all love me. };-)>

    • AccordingtoJewels says:

haha. We welcome chubby men with ANY mindset if you are a writer, bloggers, author, and especially welcome you to our tours if you have a strong female lead character. Despite the name we welcome men AND women so long as you have a love of writing and a great attitude towards our community of writers. 🙂 Hope to see you there.

      • Thanks, Jewels. I’m afraid that I won’t have a strong female character for my nonfiction books, not unless I opt for gender-reassignment surgery. *nav ponders if that would apply retroactively, or if he should hold doors open for himself*

I’ll still pop around to ICL for visits anyways. Cheers.

  6. Oh my gosh! How awesome and AMAZING! So glad I just stopped by as I just took my first official action in starting my new small business (discussing it publicly is coming soon)…. Anyway, just so grateful I found this… Not exactly sure why yet, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

    Hugs to you!
    Lindsey
