She Sits In The Shadows, Ever Silent…

Some prefer the spotlight, hungry for the attention and adoration of others, in the hope it will fill some void deep within.

But she has no such need. No she sits silently in the shadows, content to let others scramble about like ants, struggling to fulfill unattainable desires. Her dreams have always been simple but no less meaningful than those of fame and fortune.

To find another heart with which to bond and to build something enduring, is that such a bad dream to have?

I think not.

But no matter what Disney tries to sell us, our wishes don’t come true overnight; the road can be far from smooth and many simply jump off the path and hide in dark places deep inside themselves. And so their dreams die a lonely, quiet death.

But in spite of the many pitfalls, both natural and man-made, she has achieved her dream – a home, a family (with human and feline, canine and aquatic members!) and the knowledge that there is always someone ready to give her a hug when she needs it.

I am but a humble mortal, fragile in spirit and form, but my heart all-too-human heart is forever hers.

She is my wife and she knows I’m broke so this meager birthday offering will come as no surprise.

I hope.

One dream you won’t be achieving any time soon, wife!
