A Not-so-Merry Christmas.

Ever have one of those days?

The Hook’s having one of those lives.

Anyone toiling away in the modern service industry knows people are more than indifferent to service personnel, they’re downright resentful at times. This is especially true when it comes to gratuitous positions; people just don’t want to pay for service, so they try to avoid using porters, valet and bellmen. They figure their money is better spent on booze, drugs, Coach purses, etc. You know, the essentials.

ALMOST THERE HONEY, JUST A 100 FEET TO THE ROOM!

Then there’s the guests, specifically, the young douchebags, I mean adults.

Picture this – a busy Friday night in a 1000 room, four-star, hotel and people file in with their suitcases, duffel bags and shopping carts.

What?

It’s true. After one person checked in at the front desk, ten more people hopped out of a dirty, dented pick-up truck and proceeded to unload among other things, a shopping cart full of alcohol.

Yes, these morons checked in with a shopping cart full of alcohol.

A… SHOPPING… CART… FILLED… WITH… ALCOHOL.

Just process that for a minute, folks.

Who raise these douchebags? Obviously older douchebags, who themselves were raised by douchebags, it’s an endless cycle of idiocy.

Until next time, this is The Hook imploring you, please don’t be a douchebag. Especially at Christmas.

About The Hook

Husband. Father. Bellman. Author of The Bellman Chronicles. Reader of comic books and observer and chronicler of the human condition. And to my wife's eternal dismay, a mere mortal and non-vampire. I'm often told I look like your uncle, cousin, etc. If I wore a hat, I'd hang it on a hat rack in my home in Niagara Falls, Canada. You can call me The Hook, everyone else does.
